Toots & The Maytals – “Funky Kingston” LP
Crucial LP reissued on 180gm vinyl. Toots & The Maytals is about as close as reggae ever came to American soul music, and this collection of early singles was originally released in the late 70s to capitalize on the crossover success of artists like Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff in the US. There’s a nice little blurb you can spout off to impress your friends when you throw this album on, now light up a Rizla and enjoy the sunshine. You should be able to find this reissue in your local record store if you are lucky enough to have one, otherwise you can pick up a copy online at acousticsounds, musicdirect, or amazon.
