Ancestors “Of Sound Mind” 2xLP

This album actually came out last month, but it completely missed my radar till now.  “Of Sound Mind”, which is the second record from Los Angeles powerhouse Ancestors, finds the band in much more creative territory than their debut.  The description on the Tee Pee site hits on King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and Neurosis as reference points, and I’ll have to agree for the most part.  They play sprawling, huge-sounding heavy music that incorporates sludge, prog, and psychedelia.  The clip below is over 13 minute long, so let that thing unfold.  This is another great album from Tee Pee, and it certainly doesn’t just fit the usual “stoner rock” tag.  $17.99 will buy you a 2xLP at the Tee Pee Shop.

  1. Not to sound like toooooooo much of a jackass on this, but I sent you an email regarding this a while back…

  2. We’ve been meaning to write this one up for awhile now. Definitely got caught slippin’.

No worries, hopefully our readers will continue to point us towards new and exciting vinyl releases. Believe it or not, Mitch and I both have other commitments and/or full-time jobs that take up the majority of our week. We always appreciate a heads-up, but we can’t guarantee that we will respond appropriately.

  3. Oh I actually just looked back to see what happened. I sent Tee Pee an email asking them for pictures of the box set, and they never sent any, so it kind of got buried. Sheeeeit.
