New Records from Not Not Fun
I’m gonna start off by saying that I don’t know anything about either of the new records on Not Not Fun, but maybe you’re like me and you just buy this shit blindly based on the label. First up is Sex Worker’s “The Labor of Love”. Sex Worker is actually the alias of Mi Ami frontman Daniel Martin-McCormick. I’ll let NNF handle the description here: “Pulsing, lo-fi kraut electronics bubble and sputter under hazy arcs of weirdo vocal smear. Escapist disco drum machines cruise into the horizon under a canopy of dubby accents and FX percussion, sometimes peaking in harsh frenzies of echo-scream meltdowns.” I dare you to not try this LP out for $12. Oh, and it’s limited to 450 pieces. Visit NotNotFun.com.
Secondly, they’ve got a new 7″ out by Dylan Ettinger & The Heat. Again, in Not Not Fun’s poetic words: For ‘Smokin’, he wrangled together a small posse of close comrades (enter The Heat) and tracked a sick session of smoky synth themes, Corvette noir moods, echo dystopia, faded voices, and sleazy Miami sax. This one is a $5 slab of wax, limited to 380 copies. Same place, NotNotFun.com.
Lastly, if you’ve been searching for some sold-out NNF records, chances are they may have found a copy for you. They’ve restocked stuff by Teeth Mountain, Heavy Winged / Inca Ore, Dolphins Into The Future, Mythical Beast, Secret Abuse, Emaciator, Social Junk, Yellow Swans, and more. Blow the shit out of your speakers at NotNotFun.com.
