Girl Talk “Night Ripper” 2xLP

There was a time in my life when I lusted quite lustily for a vinyl copy of this album to grace my turntable. That time was 2006, and I think besides tracks 3 and 10 from Night Ripper, the only other most played song on my iPod was probably by Of Montreal. Sands through the hour glass, my friends. No offense, but once you start listening to bands like Thou, Of Montreal just sounds like somebody is literally injecting AIDS directly into your ear canal. I like to think that this album has held up a little better… I like to think that when I drop the needle on this I will be transported to a time when life was simpler and music played off of an Apple laptop was new and exciting… I like to think the limited pink vinyl edition is probably worth the $100 that Illegal Art is charging for it… wait… $100? Are you fucking kidding me? (edit: they aren’t kidding – see below) Um, well there is a black vinyl edition limited to 3000 that only costs $20 and comes on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl packaged in a deluxe gate-fold sleeve. If nothing else, you need to buy a copy of this so that when you’re grandchildren ask what the olden days were like, you can pull out this dusty tome and regale them with tales of the “mashup musical revolution”. I’m sorry, but your grandchildren are going to hate you. Go to illegalart.com and have fun figuring out their “pay what you want as long as you pay the minimum payment required” system. Cheers!

EDIT: I’m an ass. 100% of proceeds from the pink vinyl edition go directly to charity. Click here for more info.

  1. wtf I don’t see it!?!?!

  2. Not the easiest site to navigate or order from. You have to use that scroll window at the bottom until you see the CD artwork, click on it. Should bring up a window where you can pick the format, enter the price, and add to your cart. Or you could order from Darla, Aquarius, or your local record store if you have one.

  3. nah, your music taste still sucks three years later

  4. the $100 pink version is a charitable contribution… not even collected by the label.

  5. Aw, thanks for the info on that one monkey gal. I suppose I could have dug a little deeper before making an ass of myself.

  6. maybe they should have made that clear on their easy to use site
