Monolake “Silence” 2xLP
Good news: Robert Henke aka Monolake has just released a brand new 2xLP. The sounds that fill Silence (contrary to the title, there is actually music on this album) seem like a perfect companion-piece for the budding winter landscape: stark and cold and painted in shades of grey, but ultimately very beautiful and often peaceful. We’re talking about a freshly fallen blanket of snow, not a raging blizzard. So if you need something to help you settle into the cold months that lie ahead – this is it. Some pretty interesting notes on the album’s production and an extremely informative interview about the mastering process can be found at the Monolake site (Robert used to work at Dubplates + Mastering in Berlin), recommended reading for those interested in that sort of thing. Currently only available in the usual UK distros, I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for a stateside purchasing option. For now though, you can order at boomkat.com.
UPDATE: Now available at forcedexposure.com.

That discussion on mastering (and about so much more) was really great. Informative and interesting – a lot like the best stuff in TapeOp. Thanks for the link!
