Richard Skelton “Landings” 2xLP
We’ve never been shy to champion the work of Richard Skelton around here, and his partnership with the Type imprint has been very welcome – mainly because it means more vinyl editions of his excellent and singular albums. I’m not really sure how to describe his music without sounding daft, so rather then tell you about this “sublime, ambient chamber-folk” I’ll just tell you that it is really damn good. The newest album on Type is two LPs worth of material, plus a bonus CD with ever more material. Lots of material, folks. Somehow these ended up in the US before the UK, so for now you can buy it at forcedexposure.com (of course) or try experimedia.net (as they are currently having a holiday sale).
UPDATE: Album of the week at boomkat.com! Get on it.
* couldn’t find a good photo of the album art (this is not it)
