Alter “s/t” and Pussygutt “Gathering Strengths” LPs Available
If you saw the name “Pussygutt” in the post title and you are still reading then these two pieces of vinyl might be just what you are looking for. Pussygutt and Alter (featuring members of Pussygut) both dabble in a brand of doom that relies as much on emotional heft as amplifier distortion. Not many snare drums or bass pedals to be found here; what you do get is some cinematic, moody music accentuated with some huge, fuzzy guitar riffs. Easy music to fall in love with… and then slit your wrists to. You can listen to both bands at their respecitve MySpace sites (alter and pussygutt). I got both of these directly from Blake a month or so ago, and they are EASILY two of the best records of the year… Easily. So good, so dark, so interesting and creative. People should definitely go out and buy these ASAP.
Picked up alter at grimeys in Nashville. Amazing record. Although it was released late last year, I may have to squeeze it onto my 2010 year end list.
