The amount of must-buy records coming out lately is killing me (but c’mon, I love it). Unlike Madlib’s usual forays into jazz fusion (think Yesterday’s New Quintet), his Young Jazz Rebels moniker is responsible for some absolutely batshit avant-garde free jazz. The record has intentional static and an intentionally worn cover, giving it a decidedly retro feel.
