New Records on Olde English Spelling Bee
Olde English Spelling Bee is quickly becoming one of my favorite labels in the universe, and this new trio of releases only reinforces my feelings. First up is one of the most exciting things I’ve heard lately, Forest Swords’ “Dagger Path” LP. This shit is being called, ready for this…drone-step. You can imagine already that we are going to love it….think psychedelic guitar wizardry paired with off-kilter beats that would fit right in on any Burial tune. The LP version will run you $14 at the OESB Shop.
Next up is Rangers’ “Deerfield Village”. I don’t know a whole lot about this, other than it sounding loud, poppy, and great. I also know that it’s a solo project of Texas musician Joe Knight, who has a few tapes out. Rather than listening to me babble, just check out the video below. $14 at the OESB Shop.
Lastly is a vinyl re-issue of the out-of-print cassette from The Skaters’ James Ferraro, “Last American Hero”. I haven’t heard this particular release yet, but a lot of Ferraro’s tapes are mind-blowing synth workouts that will terrify your neighbors and pets. Supposedly this one is a bit more Americana. $14 at the OESB Shop.

those beats are not burial-esque
Well noone’s beats are like Burial’s, but some of the rest of the album is a bit more steppy.
That first video looks like it was shot in my town. I swear that mountain is San Bernardino peak. Quality stuff once again.
