King Rhythm “Hardships & Head Trips” LP
Don’t let the brutal cover art fool you, King Rhythm’s “Hardships & Head Trips” is no ordinary rap release. The Baltimore native pairs his above-average rhymes with production that has perfect little injections of guitar fuzz and off-kilter percussion. He cites his influences as Sonic Youth and TV On The Radio, exploring the outer limits of what one should even attempt to rap over. Somehow, it works out pretty great. If you like Anti-Pop Consortium, Edan, or most of the Anticon roster, you’ll enjoy this quite a bit. Best of all, it’s on red vinyl and only costs $10. You can pick it up at KingRhythm.com, CircleIntoSquare.com (they also have clips of every song), or AccessHipHop.com.
