Sleigh Bells “Treats” LP Preorder

We’re usually so caught up in the dirty, grimey, spooky underground that we forget to write about some exciting records that are blowing up above the surface.  “Treats” by Sleigh Bells is a pretty damn exciting record.  The duo of Derek Miller (formerly of metalcore band Poison The Well) and Alexis Krauss (formerly of teen-pop group Rubyblue) play a loud, crunchy, form of dance-pop.  I hear in the interview below that they were trying make every song sound like a non-stop metal breakdown, and it comes through.  Give this stuff a chance, it sounds unlike almost anything else.  The bad news is that the LP seems to be a picture disc (one of the things we hate here).  But if you buy it at Insound for $19.99, you get a free 7″.  Otherwise, you can score the LP only for $13.68 at Amazon.

  2. LOL. aaaa, keepin them honest.

  3. “a picture disc (one of the things we hate here)”

    Ahhh crap! Oh well.

    Huh you ask?

    Youll see.

  4. Hmm, we’ve been swayed by the occasional picture disc, maybe you’ll impress me.

  5. poison the well good.

    sleigh bells bad.

  6. hey they can’t all be winners…you guys even got me to like some dubstep

  7. Preordered. Seems like fun stuff from what I’ve heard. Why don’t you guys like picture discs? Do they not sound as good? I’ve never bought one, so I wouldn’t know.

  8. The actual sound difference is really negligible….most people don’t like them because nine times out of ten they do not come with sleeves

Oh and that video has gotta make you hate them even more

one last thing…chick should not be wearing tights….ever

  9. Oh yeah, that’s one of the reasons I haven’t bought any of the picture discs I’ve come across. I hate how they mostly come in generic clear sleeves. I’m pretty sure this one has a real sleeve, though, since the disc design is different than the cover art.

I don’t see how the video paints them in a negative light. They seem like a couple of nice, unpretentious young people. Also, I like a girl with a little junk in the trunk, so she can wear tights all she wants.

  10. I hate the sleeves picture discs usually come in. The edges rip so easily.

  11. Just picked this one up. I have to give these guys credit. One of the better sounding picture discs I’ve picked up. Sleeve was disappointing, though.
