The Roots “How I Got Over” LP
You can count me among the last people to have gotten excited about a new album from The Roots. It pretty much fell apart for me after Things Fall Apart (see what I did there?). But goddamn if How I Got Over isn’t one of the best hip-hop albums I have heard for a few years – front to back – totally solid. I guess some time off the road and on Jimmy Fallon’s side-stage has done these boys some good. Guest spots from the Monsters of Folk and Joanna Newsom should lend this album some indie cred, not like it needs it. Turn off the new Big Boi for a little while and check this one out – $13 at islanddefjam.com.
