I’ve been spinning this record pretty heavily ever since it showed up, it’s beyond impressive in spots.  Vulture Industries hail from Norway and “The Dystopia Journals” was originally released on CD in 2007.  Thankfully, Ragnarok has given it the proper vinyl release it deserves.  This is wildly imaginative progressive metal, sometimes veering into black or death metal, but always enriching said genres with flamboyant, symphonic theatrics.  Speaking of theatrics, the vocals can be pretty dramatic and theatrical at times, but the crushing riffs and pure originality make this one a total winner.  Presented on a 180 gram, 45rpm 2xLP in a gatefold jacket, $20 is a bargain.  Grab it at Ragnarok-Records.com.
