New Records at Thrill Jockey from Coil Sea, Imbogodom, and White Hills
Thrill Jockey has another beautiful batch of new records available this month. First comes the self-titled album from Coil Sea, side project of Arbouretum’s Dave Heumann. He arranged a group of musicians so diverse, the music is hard to explain or classify. One thing is certain, this is grade-a improvisational rock, something almost anyone would enjoy. It feels live, powerful, and spontaneous. The album is vinyl-only (well, besides MP3) and limited to 1,000 copies for only $14. Visit ThrillJockey.com.

The second new record comes from Imbogodom, the project of the UK’s Alexander Tucker and New Zealand’s Daniel Beban. ”The Metallic Year” illustrates what Thrill Jockey is often known for, skimming the cream off the top of the experimental / drone scene, finding artists that embrace it fully, yet offer a fuller, richer sound than many of their contemporaries. The songs here were inspired by tape experiments, but it sounds like this duo is also very well versed in classical composition. The LP is limited to 1,000 copies for $14. Visit ThrillJockey.com.

Lastly, they’ve got a limited reissue of White Hills’ S/T LP. This has the same amazing silver-foil, embossed packaging as the first edition. Big psychedelic grooves here, $15 at ThrillJockey.com.
