Black Mountain Transmitter “Black Goat of the Woods” Tape
The not-for-profit microlabel Auris Apothecary has just reissued an out-of-print cd-r from Black Mountain Transmitter on glorious analog tape. ”Black Goat of the Woods” was a cd-r so good that Aurora Borealis will be giving it a full release soon. The packaging on this tape looks amazing, complete with a screenprinted canvas outer sleeve and more screenprinted art inside. The tapes themselves are one-sided chrome-bias cassettes in cream (edition of 30) and black (edition of 60). At only $6 shipped, this is one of the easiest purchases I’ve made in weeks. i just ordered the cream one yesterday. Auris Apothecary has some crazy weird releases. some of which literally aren’t even playable, haha.
I saw the one sealed in a candle. If you burn it at both ends do you get a cassette?….
I’m tempted to get this tape release rather than the Aurora CD version, but am still considering whether I want to dive back into tapes. These days all my analog love (and $$$) goes into vinyl.
I commented at the Lysergic Earwax site that I would love to see this on vinyl, and James responded that he would too – just needs a label to offer to do it in that format. Calling all labels – pick this one up for vinyl please! We need these sounds on wax, and large format Black Goat artwork.
