The Fun Years “God Was Like, No” LP
With this new record, I am quite convinced that Barge Recordings is one of the best labels in the world. They first introduced us to Animal Hospital’s “Memory”, still the paramount experimental album of my collection, and now they’ve released The Fun Years’ “God Was Like, No”, which could very well be their masterpiece. Ben Recht’s guitar and Isaac Sparks’ turntable combine to form impossibly dense and endlessly explorable walls of coagulated melody. You could listen to this record a thousand times and still something new and interesting every time. After already receiving a 10/10 from Foxy Digitalis, expect to see this on a lot of year-end lists, it is truly moving and awe-inspiring. Even if you’ve never bought an experimental or drone release before, buy this one, it is for everyone. The LP can be bought for $16 at BargeRecordings.com.
