You may have a little harder time wrapping your ears around Matt Carlson’s offering for the newest Gift Tape batch. It is a far, far gone piece of electronic experimentation. I’ve been giving much more attention to his Golden Retriever project and their most recent album on Rene Hell’s Agents of Chaos label. Golden Retriever is a duo with Jonathan Sielaff and given the limited availability, you should find a copy of this as soon as possible. The sounds this duo constructs via bass clarinet, synthesizer and effects are totally singular within a scene that releases untold dozens of tapes each week.
