Lilacs & Champagne “S/T” LP
Whoa, Mexican Summer is bringing the groundbreaking shit lately. Lilacs & Champagne is the producing duo of Alex Hall and Emil Amos (both also of Grails), and this is their first record. As you’d expect, they’re plowing through the fertile grounds of psychedelia here, but maybe as somewhat of a surprise, they’re doing so with an MPC sampler and a backbone laid firmly in hip-hop and electronic music. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve heard such a refreshing sample-based album. Then again, I’d expect nothing less from these dudes. Preorder the LP for $15.98 at Mexican Summer.
