Sublime Frequencies are just great at what they do – pulling criminally under-appreciated international musicians out of obscurity (at least here) and introducing them to the world. After treating us to the genius of folks like Omar Souleyman and Group Doueh, their newest release is from the late Egyptian guitar legend Omar Khorshid. “Guitar El Chark (Guitar of the Orient)” collects some of Khorshid’s most amazing work, stuff that covers psych, surf, bellydance, and everything in-between. I promise you will be impressed by this record, this shit is the real deal. The deluxe 2xLP is $27.50 and can be purchased at ForcedExposure.com.

Its a good thing they made an announcement for this pre-order two months in advance since you might have to save a few paychecks to pay for this $450 BOX SET. While it does sound pretty cool, does that really justify that kind of price-tag? For the hardcore Pixies fans out there (I used to think I was one) maybe it does. I must say, you are getting quite a bit here. Let’s see: all five studio albums on 180-gram vinyl, 24k CD and Blu-ray, a DVD with a live performance and music videos, a 54 page booklet, a Giclee of Oliver Vaughan’s artwork and a 72-page hardcover book. All that housed in an oversized custom clamshell cover. Whoo-wee. Read all about it at air.com.
