Two Collections from Sublime Frequencies New to Vinyl

We’re big fans of the Sublime Frequencies label, so we were quite happy to see some new records from them in the mail. Turns out they’re reissuing some of their first ever releases (which have been CD-only until now) on vinyl. Just like the rest of their catalog, “Princess Nicotine: Folk and Pop Sounds of Myanmar (Burma) Vol. 1″ and “Folk and Pop Sounds of Sumatra Vol. 1″ are both masterfully curated collections of exotic music that you’d hear nowhere else. Speaking of curation, both albums were compiled by Alan Bishop of Sun City Girls from his collection of tapes, hard to beat that. These records are limited, sound wonderful, and come in full-color gatefolds. They are $22 each at ForcedExposure.com.

  1. You might also want go grab Alvarius B.’s “Baroque Primitiva” while you’re there. The gorgeous vinyl version is long gone but from what I hear, the hard cover cd version (also by Poon Village) is pretty gorgeous too.

  2. Cosign on Baroque Primitiva. Best album all year. Princess Nicotine actually was originally released on vinyl in 1994 on Majora.
